Directions: Under each complete the phrase, answer the question

Describe how Samurai ruled Japan:
Took control of old feudal states offering protection for loyalty. Much like the European feudal system.

Describe the rule of the Nobunaga in Japan:
Sought to eliminate his remaining enemies, and hoped to gather enough power to rule the entire county.

Describe the rule of Hideyoshi in Japan:
By 1590 he conquered most of Japan and moved on to Korea.

Describe the rule of Ieyasu in Japan:
Completes the unification of Japan, this earned him loyalty of the daimyo then 3 years later became sole leader or Japan called the Shogun.

Describe the culture of Japan under Ieyasu:
Gov was still done at the local level, demanded that daimyo spend every other year at the capital and leave their families as hostages.

Describe Europe’s interaction with Japan and why Japan cuts off the interaction:
Traders brought things like socks, eyeglasses, tobacco, and firearms. Christianity was brought in by missionaries, cut off by Japan in attempt to control foreign ideas. Allowed missionaries caused valued European trade and chaos on Japan. The Gov could not control it so they closed the country. No one could leave or come in.
